Dee Why, Sydney
Brief
To use our local knowledge and design flair to create a
front garden which will survive unrelenting coastal conditions on natural,
exposed rock, a garden to be viewed from the balcony.
Design
A terrace was formed on top of the naturally occurring
sandstone, by raising and levelling the area with sandstone blocks. A shapely
lawn area with a sandstone edge forms the terrace, which invokes a reflection of
the distant view to Long Reef headland.
Using materials with clean lines
such as glass bricks and sawn sandstone, against the rougher granite boulders
and grassy foliage, a nice contrast was formed, which reflects the rough coastal
headlands and adjacent shoreline.
